Yamaha Launches Female Musician Contest in Mexico City

Yamaha Mexico announces a contest encouraging women musicians to participate, with prizes and exposure opportunities. Entries accepted until Feb 28, 2025.

Yamaha de Mexico has launched a call aimed at women of any age or academic background, seeking those who play any musical instrument or sing any genre. This initiative stems from the company's long-standing experience in organizing contests and giveaways to strengthen musical communities. Initially targeted at drummers, it was decided to expand to musicians in general upon noticing significant female talent.

The call will conclude on Friday, February 28, at 8 PM, and applications will be accepted through the official Yamaha and "Ella Suena" channels. Participants will have the chance to win Yamaha products and support to promote their projects, as well as the possibility of becoming sponsored artists by the brand. To participate, a video performing a song of no more than three minutes must be submitted, either a cover or an original composition.

On the other hand, the book "Ramones in 32 Songs" by Chilean author Emilio Ramón has been published by Resonancia Editorial, a label of the electronic magazine Resonancia Magazine founded in Mexico in 2009. This work, which delves into the history of the legendary band Ramones, will be presented on Friday, February 28, at 7 PM at the Georgetown Records store in Mexico City. In addition to analyzing 32 emblematic songs, the book combines essay, chronicle, and biography, also offering illustrations from visual artist Mictlart.

The presentation of "Ramones in 32 Songs" will feature journalist Rogelio Garza, Alejandro Garrido "El Roka", and author Emilio Ramón. This book constitutes a thorough study that explores the origin and significance of Ramones' music, the pioneering band of American-style international punk. With a detailed focus on the lives of Dee Dee, Joey, Johnny, and Tommy Ramone, the work promises to be of interest to both the band's followers and the general public.
